Himalayan Challenge Expedition

Adventure is definitely the life blood of the youth.Adventure training in the NCC provides knowledge to cadets of the topography as well as experience of different weather conditions and adventurous living under camp conditions. It inculcates a spirit of adventure, explorative inquisitiveness, develop stamina, endurance, discipline, courage, determination, comradeship and leadership leading to development of self-confidence, team spirit and spirit-de- corps amongst the NCC cadets. The NCC wing at Christ P U College leaves no stone unturned in providing its students with opportunities for such exploration, thrill and adventure.

23 cadets from Christ University including 3 cadets from Christ P U College (Yogesh, Sourabh and Karthik)under the leadership of Lt.Sajina; Company Commander Christ University NCC in collaboration with the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute, Darjeeling embarked on a life altering mountaineering journey from the 27th of April to the 14th of May 2016. The expedition included natural rock climbing, indoor rock climbing, Rapling, Suspension Traverse and trekking at different places, altitudes and changing weather. The students covered the Tiger hills (8300ft), Gairibans (9000ft), Kalpokhiri (9558ft), Sandakphu (1200ft), Banlatar, Kainjalay (3500ft ), Goak (7500ft) in record breaking time. This was not the end of it; after the graduation ceremony, the students set on yet another challenging and new adventure to the Nathu La mountain pass that connects the Indian state of Sikkim with China's Tibet Autonomous Region from the starting point of Manasasarovara, Sikkim. At the end of it, the happiness of the cadets knew no bounds. The students returned with an experience of a lifetime including pleasant and exciting memories as a team stronger than ever before.
